Love Without Limits

(written about Evergreen's Medical and Public Health programs)

“To these doctors, curing disease is their duty-bound task, but disease prevention is also a kind of responsibility.

“Extensive and profound Chinese culture attracts a group of medical, educational and other fields' experts who own doctorates and master’s degrees, coming from America, Canada, Australia and other various countries. They can speak fluent Chinese. They choose to work and live in Shanxi which has a five thousand year brilliant history.  They not only volunteer to supply medical services to local people, but also popularize medical prevention knowledge in order to increase the community health center's medical service effectiveness.  Their health educational emphasis changes traditional ideas about hospitalization. “

Aid as Volunteers

(written about some of Evergreen's aid after the devastating Sichuan earthquake in May 2008)

“The director of Shanxi Evergreen Service, Dr. Mark Strand, boarded the plane to Chengdu hurriedly, with family physician David Leung and national 2-rank psychological consultant Ginger Guo.  Shanxi Evergreen Service is a public benefit organization. These 3 volunteers went to the disaster area to do public health work, epidemic prevention after disaster, and psychological consulting. They finished their work in first phase and returned to Shanxi on May 22nd. Ginger Guo told the reporter at Evergreen Yuci office on the 23rd about what they had seen and heard in the disaster area as volunteers.”

“Evergreeners intend to embody the best Christian principles, while assisting the Chinese to strengthen initiatives in health, education, business, and agriculture.

-M.P., Evergreen Board of Directors

The biggest difference between Evergreen and other jobs is that Evergreen is a family, full of love, care, wisdom and understanding.”
-D.X., a Chinese Evergreen employee

"I am amazed at the level of expertise, professionalism, dedication and above all, the love of God that the Evergreen staff exemplifies. Their heart for God’s kingdom and their long-term commitment to serving the people of China are inspiring and contagious. Like the staff, Evergreen’s board members bring wisdom, passion for China and high character to their roles. Both of these groups have a deep love and commitment to the Lord and live large because of Him. I am proud to work in the North American Office to support these humble servants and to be a part of Evergreen’s work to serve the Lord and the people of Shanxi."
-D.M., an Evergreen employee

"Having twice visited and worked on the field with Evergreen, we have found Evergreen to be an amazing Christian testimony in Shanxi. Its good works in bringing blessings to local Chinese people in the fields of agriculture, education and medicine are highly admirable for both the local Chinese and international community. Furthermore, it is openly Christian, fully non-profit, seeking only to bring glory to Christ by demonstrating Christ's deep love for China. Praying and giving financial support to Evergreen is a privilege, it enables us to be part of this great work of God."
-B.L. and A.L., Sydney, Australia

I have worked with Evergreen for over ten years. My reason is very simple for working for Evergreen.  It is that I want to help my foreign brother and sister in the Lord in China working for both life and soul of the poor people.  I feel working in Evergreen as if be in a family, all colleagues treat each other very kindly and can do the valuable work more efficiently.
-W.Z., a Chinese Evergreen employee

“It has always been a pleasure to work with Evergreen Family Friendship Service over the years.  The operations of EFFS are highly efficient.  EFFS maintains a climate of strong financial accountability and has a good system of internal control.  The organization has always demonstrated a commitment to sound financial policies and practices.”
-Auditor, Capin Crouse, LLP

“I like Evergreen because of its good work environment, good team work. I can sense ‘LOVE' in Evergreen, and the love start changing my life!”
-Z.C., a Chinese Evergreen employee

"I am a 44 year old farmer who grew up in Yangqu County, Shanxi Province. My wife and I work in a nearby factory in the off season and in all our life improved, but that all ended on day when my wife fell down while riding her bike breaking her leg. I was forced to quit my work and take care of her in hospital. Due to that, we lost our jobs and had no income. As you can imagine, the daily expenses added up as she stayed in the hospital and then ran out of money and we were in debt.

“We were introduced to an Evergreen doctor who helped us both with medical fees and consoled our hearts.  My wife was told she might not walk again.  We were devastated.  In spite of the dim prognosis, the Evergreen doctor encouraged us and helped her recover.  Day by day her leg was getting better, and after five months she could walk normally.  It was a miracle.

“After leaving the hospital, we faced another problem, what about work?  The doctor introduced me to the Evergreen Agriculture Project which taught me about new strains of vegetables and how to plant them.  Later I joined Evergreen Ag team as an employee.  Through Evergreen’s work, I found the importance of my work.  Our program has attracted much attention from many farmers and government officials.  We sincerely hope through our work we can help farmers to break the cycle of poverty.”

-W.F., Chinese employee of Evergreen

“Words cannot express the depth of our gratitude. No matter where the future takes us, we will remember forever the help that we have received, the light that was given to us to guide us on life’s path. In our area, many other families lack the financial resources to send their children to university. I hope that the ray of light shown to me through Evergreen’s scholarship program can be extended to them too, to enable them to walk towards a bright future.”
-Z.W.L., Evergreen university scholarship recipient

“When Evergreen Family Friendship Service opened, I was thrilled.  My personal knowledge of some of the people involved gives me confidence to support EFFS financially and in prayer.  After having worked in China and Hong Kong in my youth, Evergreen gives me opportunity to continue to minister to the Chinese through Evergreen workers, even in my 'old age.'"
--G.T., long-time Evergreen supporter

"I joined Evergreen in 2003 not because of any financial reasons but of an inner need to prove the value of my life. Now 6 years have passed. The most valuable reward I get from working here is in my spiritual life!"
--K.L., a Chinese Evergreen employee
