Our Stewardship Guidelines
We base our stewardship attitudes and efforts on 2 Corinthians 8: 1-15.
We believe giving and receiving are both privileges based in the grace and love of God.
Our desire is to have supporters and partners who are delighted by their relationship with us, so that together we can celebrate God’s provision. Simply put, we humbly trust in God, through faith, to lead us and provide for all we need. We know if we are stepping out in faith according to the guidance of the Holy Spirit, then the resources do exist and it is up to the Spirit to make the necessary introductions.
Therefore, we see our support-raising efforts to be more like match-making than fund-raising! We depend on the Holy Spirit to connect our projects with your passions, which leads us together toward transformational stewardship and mutual delight. Part of our role is to clearly communicate with gratitude and joy what we are doing, where the Holy Spirit is leading us, and what results are obtained.
In addition, our stewardship practices challenge us to make a little go a long way. For example, our facilities serve many uses and host many different programs, and we always want to support China’s development through cultivation of local resources and meeting local needs in ways that are sustainable within each community.
We never want to take for granted that all gifts, big and small, come from the Provider through our cherished partners as an act of grace and an expression of His love. THANK YOU for considering Evergreen as part of your personal stewardship plan!
Accountability
We take seriously Paul’s words in 2 Corinthians 8:21, “For we are taking pains to do what is right, not only in the eyes of the Lord, but also in the eyes of men.” For this reason, Evergreen is an associate member of the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability (ECFA). In addition, our Form 990, the annual IRS return that must be filled out by non-profit organizations, is available for review upon request.
Evergreen’s board of directors has a finance committee that is actively engaged in monitoring the financial operations of the organization, and formally reports to the entire board at least twice annually.
Evergreen’s auditor from Capin Crouse, LLP, commented, “It has always been a pleasure to work with Evergreen Family Friendship Service over the years. The operations of EFFS are highly efficient. EFFS maintains a climate of strong financial accountability and has a good system of internal control. The organization has always demonstrated a commitment to sound financial policies and practices.”
