Leadership
As the grandson of Peter Torjesen, Finn Torjesen has been with Evergreen since its inception. Finn took over the role of Executive Director from his father in 1997. Since then, he has been the international ‘face’ of Evergreen, educating organizations and individuals around the world about Evergreen's work in China. He also serves as director of the North American operations and member of the Board of Directors.After receiving a degree from Moody Bible Institute, Finn and his wife Sandy moved to Indonesia where they served from 1983-1992. Later, Finn received his MBA from Rutgers University. He is an important component of Evergreen’s global business consulting team, and has been involved in helping many US-based organizations successfully initiate operations in China.
Since receiving the invitation to return to China, Finn and Sandy have lived in Shanxi Province where they have raised their twins, Davin and Denise. Finn is a highly requested guest speaker and advisor regarding successfully working in China’s cultural milieu.
Mark Strand, China DirectorIn his role as China Director, Mark is responsible for leading all of Evergreen’s China efforts into the future. Mark is a creative, dedicated leader and professional, with passion for serving China and upholding Evergreen’s work to the highest standards. Mark and his wife Rene have three children: Bjorn, Marit and Anders. Mark enjoys sports and other activities with them. He and his family have hiked China’s most famous mountains and are always looking for a chance to be outdoors.
