Career Members

Evergreen encourages long-term commitment (10 years to life).  The core of this organization lies with those who are in it for the long haul.  The nature of working in China, learning the language and adjusting to local customs necessitates more than just a fleeting excursion here.  We encourage those who believe God wants them to work here on a full-time basis to immerse themselves in this land.

An Evergreen member is one who is:

• Committed to serving the Lord Jesus Christ
• Prepared to study Mandarin for two to three years,
• Committed to long-term work in China (10 years or longer)
• Professionally qualified

Based on our years in Shanxi, we in Evergreen believe the following characteristics describe those who best succeed and thrive in this culture and work situation:

• Relationship builders:  People who can build and maintain strong personal relationships with Chinese people, particularly with non-Christians.
• Team players:  People who can work in teams and are committed to prompt and healthy conflict resolution when conflict arises within the teams.
• Flexibility:  People who can and are willing to do other jobs that do not necessarily lie in their profession.
• Initiative:  People who can see opportunities and, within the context of the team, move to take the initiative in developing something productive to address the opportunity.
• Family oriented:  People who have healthy home lives.
